Our Story
As second generation immigrants inspired by hard working parents, Helen and Roger Ma grew up with a deep appreciation for the many opportunities they had.
Knowing not all children are as fortunate, they developed a heartfelt desire “to pay it forward” and uplift kids. Their journey through their child’s challenging medical struggles also left them with an unshakable affection for children’s needs and hospitals, compelling them to turn their compassion into tangible help. When Roger‘s mother, Shulan Ma, passed away in 2014, they established the Endurance Foundation in her honor to do just that. Its mission: to bring happiness and smiles to children everywhere by investing in their health and well-being, giving them hope for a brighter future.
The Foundation identified its first initiative and immediately went to work, raising funds to provide desperately needed aid in war-torn Ukraine in 2024. Partnering with another nonprofit already established abroad, the Foundation flew medical professionals and needed supplies to Ukraine to care for suffering children.
Since that inaugural initiative, the Foundation has honed its efforts to concentrate on sports as a powerful avenue to reach more children.
The confidence-building, sportsmanship, teamwork and organized play inherent in sports align perfectly with the values held by the Foundation — health and well-being, compassion, resiliency, community and hope. What remains unchanged since its inception is the Endurance Foundation’s unwavering commitment to being a game-changer for good in the lives of children around the world.
